Cubist Hosts Second Annual Hackathon in New York

June 2024

In April, Cubist hosted its second annual Hackathon in our New York offices. The competition brought together roughly 50 students – largely undergraduates – from 21 schools across the U.S. and Canada.

This year, the project focus was Streaming Data and participants used New York City transit data and Cubist’s new open-source python library to build a workable application or model. Over the course of 24 hours, students formed teams to complete their projects and present to a panel of Cubist judges, including Pascal Tomecek, Head of Research Technology and lead of our Quant Academy rotational program for aspiring developers. Students were evaluated based on their creativity, thoroughness, originality, and the quality of their presentations.

We’d like to thank everyone involved for a great event and look forward to hosting again in 2025!
