Point72 Academy Launches the Second Season of its Podcast

September 2022

The Point72 Academy launched a new season of its podcast, designed to help students get a better understanding of a career in finance. This season will introduce students to investment professionals at our Firm, discussing how they forged their career paths and made it to where they are today.

Last season’s podcast was only available to Point72 Academy candidates, but this season is available for talent who might be unfamiliar with Point72 or our analyst training program. We believe great talent can come from anywhere and, as Jaimi says in episode 1 from season 2:

“This is a career with limitless opportunity for people with curiosity and drive, but it can also be intimidating, especially for people who are just starting out. I know because I’ve been in your shoes, I’ve been a first-year investment banker, a first-year sell-side analyst and a first-year hedge fund analyst. At times it was a struggle. This is the program I wish I’d had to help me find footing faster in the most exciting job on Earth.”

Joining Jaimi in our first episode, Point72’s Head of U.S. Long/Short Equity Teams Supervision, Mark Flannery, gives a rundown on how a career at a hedge fund differs from investment banking, private equity, equity research and venture capital, while Portfolio Manager Jon Thompson and Analyst Cory Bunce talk about moving from investment banking to Point72.

New episodes will drop biweekly, so check back for more.
