Last month, Point72 Academy sponsored the University Network of Investing and Trading’s (UNIT) Hedge Fund Case Competition held at the University of Sydney. Founded in 2007, UNIT is the largest investing and trading society in Australia, providing educational seminars and professional opportunities to over 11,000 members.
For this year’s challenge, teams of students from the finance societies at participating universities were asked to recommend a pharmaceutical stock, and prepare a deck and working model to support their pitch. Participants were graded based on their ability to accurately perform the financial analysis, demonstrate thoughtfulness in their recommendation, and structure the presentation in a clear and consistent way. Point72 Macro PMs James Pullen and Zorin Finkelsen were part of the judging panel, and we had additional investment professionals and members of our Academy team attend to meet and mentor students from across the region.
We’d like to thank UNIT and all the students who participated for a great event, and we look forward to continuing our partnership moving forward.
