Last week, colleagues from across the firm gathered in New York to celebrate 10 years of the Point72 Academy.
The evening brought together current Academy associates, alumni, and many of the colleagues who have supported and shaped the program over the years.
The Academy launched in 2015 with 350 applicants and a class of 10 participants in New York. One year later, its first graduates joined investment teams across the firm. Today, the Academy receives around 40,000 applicants annually and has a presence across 10 of our global offices. To date, over 200 graduates have earned analyst roles at the firm and several of them are portfolio managers today.1
Point72’s commitment to development has been central to Steve’s vision from the start and remains a cornerstone of our culture. The Academy was created to develop talent early in their careers, often straight from university, and prepare them to become fundamental equities analysts at Point72. Over the past decade, it has strengthened our investment teams, built a robust internal pipeline of talent, and reinforced our ability to compete for and retain exceptional investors.
At the event, Harry Schwefel and Jaimi Goodfriend shared a few remarks reflecting on the Academy’s growth and the people who have made it possible. As Jaimi noted, “This doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of a lot of investment from a lot of people. What makes it meaningful is seeing how far people have come.”
Thank you to everyone who joined to celebrate and to all who have contributed to the Academy’s first ten years.
