We recently welcomed over 75 undergraduate students across 10 universities to our Hudson Yards office in New York City to participate in the Point72 Academy National Case Competition. The competition gave students a chance to pitch a thesis on a stock – testing their analytical skills, showcasing their creativity, and offering a first-hand look at a potential buy-side career at Point72.
The day began with a fireside chat featuring Jean Horenstein, Investment Professional Development Operating Officer, and Adam Champy, AI Product Lead for Fundamental Equities. They shared insights into how Point72 is seeking to leverage Artificial Intelligence to automate repetitive work and refine research processes, which is designed to enable analysts to focus on deeper analysis and validation.

Students spent the day working amongst their teams to sharpen their ideas before delivering preliminary pitches. Finalists went on to present to a panel of our investment professionals, all of whom began their careers at Point72 through the Point72 Academy, before the judges deliberated and selected a winner.

Congratulations to our winning team from the University of Pennsylvania and thank you to all the students who participated. Your hard work and curiosity continue to make these competitions a huge success.
