For the third year in a row, Point72 is proud to have sponsored the GYOSEKI Case Competition in Tokyo, an event that brings together university students for a rigorous two-month financial analysis challenge. Our continued involvement underscores our commitment to attracting and nurturing the next generation of investment talent in Japan.
The competition, highlighted in a recent article by Nikkei, a Japanese business publication, offers students a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of an analyst. Participants do a deep dive into the financials of selected companies, analyzing performance and projecting stock prices. This year, the competition saw participation from over 240 students.
In addition to being the lead sponsor, we also hosted exclusive teach-in sessions and panel discussions, allowing participants to engage directly with Point72. During an interview with Nikkei, Kei Kato, Japan Long/Short Equities Executive, noted that such competitions help students consider hedge funds as viable career options, alongside banks and securities firms.
