Jin Moteki

Jin Moteki is an Economics Analyst in Asian Economic and Strategy Research at Point72 based in Tokyo. In his role, he analyzes economic data and macroeconomic policy to assess their implications for financial markets, with a focus on Japan and Korea. 

Prior to joining Point72 in 2025, Jin was an FX Strategist at Nomura Securities, where he covered G10 currencies with a focus on the Japanese yen. Previously, he spent more than a decade as an economist at the Bank of Japan (BOJ). He was analyzing the Japanese macroeconomy as the Deputy Director of the Economic Research Division of the Research and Statistics Department. During his tenure at the BOJ, he also worked as an economist at the Financial Markets Department and Monetary Affairs Department, where he contributed to these departments’ work on financial market surveillance and support the formulation of monetary policy by the bank’s policy board. 

Jin earned a master’s in public policy with honors from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Tokyo.
