Miguel Vargas

Miguel Vargas is the firm’s Head of Strategy. In this role, he helps assess new business opportunities and oversees the firm’s data partnerships and strategic business initiatives. Since 2023, he has also served as Chief of Staff to Gavin O’Connor, Point72’s Executive Vice President.

Mr. Vargas joined the firm in 2016 as a member of Market Intelligence (MI), the firm’s proprietary research group, and advanced through a series of increasingly senior roles. As MI Business Unit Manager, he helped scale the department, growing both the team and its product offerings.

Prior to joining Point72, he was a Managing Consultant at IBM, where he led technology transformation initiatives for enterprise clients.

Mr. Vargas graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in politics. Mr. Vargas is a junior board member of Prep for Prep, a leadership development program that offers promising students from underprivileged backgrounds across NYC access to top-tier, independent schools throughout the Northeast. In 2022, he led the partnership with the organization to establish Point72’s high school internship program that still runs today.
