Point72’s Japan Office Hosts 2024 Tokyo Insight Week

We were thrilled to recently welcome our largest cohort of students to date for Insight Week in Tokyo. Sixteen students from Japan joined us for our one-week, in-person immersion program, which is designed to provide a glimpse into the life of a Point72 Academy Associate and what it takes to be a buy-side investment professional.
Over the course of five days, Jaimi Goodfriend, Point72’s Head of Investment Professional Development; Sonia Yu, Head of Investment Professional Development and Point72 LaunchPoint for Asia Pacific; and Enrica Cheung, our Academy Recruiter for APAC, led a series of training sessions focused on the fundamentals of valuation, stock analysis, idea generation, and compliance. Marc Desmidt, Head of APAC, and Joy Yang, Head of Asian Economic and Strategy Research, also led discussions on the nuances of the Japanese market.
Outside of the training sessions, students had the opportunity to network with Point72 analysts and portfolio managers, who shared insights into why they chose to pursue a career in investing and how the firm’s approach to learning and development helped them advance their careers.
This year’s cohort joined us from more than seven different universities in Japan, and hailed from undergraduate, masters, and MBA programs, bringing a variety of perspectives to the table.
We want to thank everyone who participated for making the program a huge success, and look forward to hosting additional Insight Week Programs next year in the UK and Japan.
